The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization is an agency of United nations based in Paris. UNESCO’s motto is “to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information”. It established on November 4th, 1946 after the World War 2. As of November 2013 reports, its members include 195 member states and 9 associate members.
It seeks objectives through 5 major programs: social or human sciences, culture, communication or information and education natural science.
Projects run by UNESCO include literacy projects, technical and teacher-training programs. And it also conduct international science and research programs, the promotion of independent media and freedom of the press. It also working on regional and cultural history projects, the promotion of cultural and traditional diversity.
To promote globalization and to create a positive environment it is running translations of world literature, international cooperation agreements on secure the world cultural and natural heritage (World Heritage Sites) and to preserve human rights, literacy, technical, as well as teacher-training programs, international science programs
The promotion of independent media and freedom of the press to express or to provide platform to express thoughts of citizens, regional and cultural history projects. It also doing an attempt to make a bridge to unite worldwide digital divide.
