Officially the Republic of Croatia is a country located in central as well as southern Europe. With a total area of 56,594 square kilometers (21,851 square miles) and a population of 4.28 millions Croatia holds 124th and 129th respectively. Geographically It borders Bosnia as well as Herzegovina to the southeast, Montenegro to the southeast, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, the Adriatic Sea to the southwest and Slovenia to the northwest. Here are three distinct areas of Croatia: Lowland Croatia, Littoral Croatia and Mountainous Croatia.


United Nations reported Croatia as a high-income economy. As of 2010 report, service sector accounted for 66% of GDP, followed by the industrial sector with 27.2% and agriculture accounting for 6.8% of GDP. Chemicals, plastics, machine tools, fabricated metal, electronics, petroleum refining, food and beverages, tourism industries are main pillars of Croatian economy. It gives a universal health care system and free primary as well as secondary education. Croatia government is running under unitary parliamentary constitutional republic system.

Croatian Constitution gives Freedom of religion which defines all religious communities as equal in front of the law. Croatia has no official religion although   2011 census reported 91.36% of Croatians as Christian; Islam (1.47%) is second largest religion while 4.57% of the population describes themselves as non-religious.

It’s most satisfying thing for tourist is its long Mediterranean Coastline dotted with inlets and bays throughout. Dubrovnik- the Pearl of Adriatic is also one of the most prominent attractions in Country. One can wish to go Plitvice lake, Europe’s most beautiful natural destination, the area of this lake is home of many wild animal and also birds. Hence United Nation World Tourism Organization reported the intake of 11.6 travelers in country. Another coastal city Korcula nicknamed as ‘LITTLE DUBROVNIK’ is famous for its coastal views and architecture. The island of Mijet is perfect to relax, 70% area of Mijet covered by forest and other by fields. There are two salt lakes and also a Benedictine monastery.
